Community Spotlight: Meet recording artist UYG FLIZOP from the US Virgin Islands, St. Croix.

Today, we're happy to share with you our conversation with recording artist UYG FLIZOP from the US Virgin Islands, St. Croix.
We wanted to get to know a little bit more about who he is, how he got into the music industry, and where he's going on his creative journey. Here's how it went:

Thanks for taking the time to chat with us UYG FLIZOP! We're excited to have you as our next feature and learn more about you as a musician. Let's start this off with you sharing exactly what it was that initially drew you to your craft, and how has your journey unfolded since then?
UYG FLIZOP: What initially drew me to making music would be my older brother who passed away. When I was younger, I remember him recording late in the night with his speakers always blasting. My journey since then has been rocky, but I have improved a lot and I've built many connections just off of my music alone.

Can you share some insights into your creative process? Where do you find inspiration, and how do you translate that into your work?
UYG FLIZOP: My creative process is simple; I just walk in the booth and whatever comes to my mind or whatever I'm feeling is what's going to come out. I find inspiration from other artist around me that I make music with every day. I translate it into my music by listening to the different types of flows or beats they might use and just build off of their work and energy.

What projects are you currently working on, and what excites you the most about them?
UYG FLIZOP: The most current project I'm working on right now would be Zoptober 3, it excites me every time I work on it because the vibe just brings me back to the days when I first started to make music.

Looking back on your career so far, what would you consider to be your proudest achievement or most memorable moment?
UYG FLIZOP: Looking back in my career so far, my proudest moment would be performing in my own hometown. I would also consider that as my most memorable moment.

How do you navigate challenges and setbacks in your field, and what advice would you give to aspiring creatives facing similar obstacles?
UYG FLIZOP: I navigate challenges and setbacks by recording and staying busy. The best advice I can give to other creators would be to keep working no what you are doing and just stay at it, don't give up on yourself. 

In an industry constantly evolving, how do you stay innovative and relevant while maintaining your unique voice/style?
UYG FLIZOP: I stay relevant in this industry by uploading music every month so my supporters have something fresh to hear and they might tell a friend that tells another friend.

Can you talk about any collaborations or partnerships that have been particularly meaningful or impactful for you?
UYG FLIZOP: The most impactful collaborations that I have done would be with my close friend Kwan2x, he is like a little brother to me and that has been the most meaningful too. We learn a lot from each other.

What do you hope audiences or consumers take away from your work, and what impact do you aspire to make in your industry?
UYG FLIZOP: I hope the audience takes my accent, my word play and my lyrics as special elements from my work. The impact that I aspire to make in my industry would be to inspire more artists where I'm from to put out more music and chase their dreams.

Lastly, what message or piece of wisdom would you like to share with your fans, or anyone inspired by your journey?
UYG FLIZOP: The best piece of wisdom that I can give is to keep working no matter what you do no matter if they hate it or love it. Keep working and keep practicing, never stop. Trust and believe in yourself.
