Community Spotlight: Meet recording artist Nate Shy from Brawley, California.

Today, we're happy to share with you our conversation with recording artist Nate Shy from Brawley, California.
We wanted to get to know a little bit more about who he is, how he got into the music industry, and where he's going on his creative journey. Here's how it went:

Thanks for taking the time to chat with us Nate! We're excited to have you as our next feature and learn more about you as a musician. Let's start this off with you sharing exactly what it was that initially drew you to your craft, and how has your journey unfolded since then?
Nate Shy: Just the thought of making it out of the small town that I’m from and inspiring the next person to create. It’s been a long journey with a few roadblocks so far, but I know I’m excited for what’s to come.

Can you share some insights into your creative process? Where do you find inspiration, and how do you translate that into your work?
Nate ShyI write what I’m feeling at the time mostly. I find inspiration in my past experiences whether it be love or just the simple things life throws at me. Music was always my form of therapy. You’ll hear the beauty and darkness in it.

What projects are you currently working on, and what excites you the most about them?
Nate ShyRight now, I’m currently getting ready for a big project release at the end of the year. This one will be a full synth-wave sound and me testing waters vocally that I’ve never tested before so I’m definitely excited to evolve into something new.

Looking back on your career so far, what would you consider to be your proudest achievement or most memorable moment?
Nate ShyProbably getting the call that I was getting aired on the radio (98.3FM) for the first time or seeing myself featured on my first editorial playlist by Spotify representing my (Mexican) culture. Seeing a glimpse of some of my goals being achieved was special and I truly know the sky is the limit now.

How do you navigate challenges and setbacks in your field, and what advice would you give to aspiring creatives facing similar obstacles?
Nate Shy“If one doesn’t hit, get them with the next one” was the piece of advice given to me years ago that has stuck with me ever since.

In an industry constantly evolving, how do you stay innovative and relevant while maintaining your unique voice/style?
Nate ShyBeing different. Don’t be afraid to evolve if something isn’t clicking.

Can you talk about any collaborations or partnerships that have been particularly meaningful or impactful for you?
Nate ShyGetting to work with my brothers Joseph, Switch, Lee, Juan, and Rey is a blessing I won’t take for granted. They all inspire me in different ways, and I couldn’t have asked for a better team to roll out with.

What do you hope audiences or consumers take away from your work, and what impact do you aspire to make in your industry?
Nate ShyI hope people can see it’s okay to be emotional through this art form and not think you have to be hard all the time. I hope I can bring a different kind of light to the Mexican wave in music someday.

Lastly, what message or piece of wisdom would you like to share with your fans, or anyone inspired by your journey?
Nate ShyBe different. Stay delusional. Chase your dreams. Don’t let the world dictate what you truly want in this life because you only have one.
